If you're looking for a wedding venue near Sydney that combines breathtaking natural beauty, colonial history, and a peaceful, secluded atmosphere, then Lennox Bridge in Glenbrook is an incredible choice. Nestled at the foot of the Blue Mountains, this location provides a stunning and unique backdrop for your special day. It’s an ideal spot for couples seeking an intimate and memorable outdoor ceremony.
Lennox Bridge is the oldest surviving stone arch bridge on the Australian mainland, completed in 1833 by David Lennox using convict labour. Its elegant sandstone arch and stonework offer a unique, majestic, and historically rich backdrop that will make your wedding photos truly stand out. It’s not just a bridge; it’s a piece of living history.
The bridge is surrounded by lush native bushland, including tall trees and ferns, and spans the beautiful Brookside Creek (also known as Lapstone Creek). This tranquil, natural setting provides an incredible, peaceful atmosphere for exchanging your vows. It's a true escape from the city hustle, yet easily accessible.
The combination of the striking architecture of the bridge, the crystal clear creek below, and the surrounding verdant bush offers endless opportunities for spectacular wedding photography. Whether you are on top of the bridge or down by the creek, the lighting and natural elements create a magical, romantic mood.
Despite being easily reached from Sydney, Lennox Bridge maintains a wonderfully intimate and secluded atmosphere. Located on Mitchell's Pass, which is now a less-used road, the area feels personal and private—perfect for a heartfelt ceremony with your closest friends and family.
In the event of light rain, the bridge itself provides a certain amount of natural shelter directly beneath its arch. While not a fully enclosed backup, the stonework offers a unique, romantic, and atmospheric alternative to simply using umbrellas, allowing your ceremony to continue with minimal disruption.
Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: It can not be increased above 20.
You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. Thois number can not be increased.
Lennox Bridge is approximately a 1-hour to 1 hour 15 minutes drive west from Sydney CBD via the M4 Western Motorway. Take the Great Western Highway (A44) exit towards Glenbrook and then follow signs for Mitchell's Pass. There is a small, dedicated car park located right next to the bridge and the trailhead, but parking is very limited. We strongly recommend carpooling for your guests.
Take the Blue Mountains Line train from Sydney Central to Glenbrook Station. The journey is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. From Glenbrook Station, it is a short taxi or ride-share journey (about 5-10 minutes) down Mitchell’s Pass to the bridge. Ensure you pre-book a local taxi as ride-share availability can be unreliable.
Please note that the most scenic area for a ceremony is often down by the creek, which requires navigating a short bushwalking track that includes approximately 45 stairs from the car park. This may present an accessibility challenge for some guests, so please plan accordingly.
Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic.
