Booking and Fees for Pirrama Park

Because Pirrama Park is managed by the local municipality, a formal park permit must be secured directly with the authority if your guest count exceeds standard passive use limits or if you want to set up specific infrastructure. While your marriage celebrant handles the legalities of your ceremony, securing the physical space remains the couple's responsibility.

Booking Requirements & Fees:

Small Ceremonies (Under 20 People): Casual, stand-up elopements with fewer than 20 total people and completely zero infrastructure (no chairs, arches, or tables) generally do not require a formal council booking or site fee.
Larger Ceremonies (Over 20 People): If your guest list expands beyond 20 people, or if you plan to set up any wedding infrastructure (such as up to 30 chairs, a red carpet, or a signing table), you are required to lodge an application.
Associated Site Fees: The City of Sydney classifies its main event reserves under strict fee structures. For standard wedding ceremony allocations (approved in 3-hour blocks), the flat hire fee for a neighborhood park location is $438. Bookings are not locked in until all council fees are paid in full.

Guest Numbers:

Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: Add up to 100+ in total +$75.

You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. For an additional fee of $75, this number can be increased to 100+ people in total. To add guests after your initial booking, go to the Add-ons tab in your portal.

I understand that, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.

Getting there:

Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ceremony (along with your guests) to ensure you are in the right location and ready to go at your scheduled time.

Private Car & Parking: Pirrama Park is located at the end of Pirrama Road, Pyrmont. There is metered street parking available directly along Pirrama Road and nearby Harris Street managed by the City of Sydney. However, street spots fill up incredibly fast on weekends. For reliable parking, you can pre-book a space at The Star Car Park or the Harbourside Car Park, both of which sit within a short, comfortable walking distance from the waterfront lawns.
Light Rail: The L1 Dulwich Hill Light Rail Line is an incredibly efficient way to arrive. Simply hop off at The Star Light Rail Station or the John Street Square Station. From either platform, it is an easy 5-to-10-minute flat walk down toward the park shoreline.
Bus: You can take the 389 bus route (which runs regularly from Bondi Junction through the CBD via Park Street). This bus takes you all the way to the very end of Harris Street, dropping you off just a moment's walk from the park entrance.
Rideshare / Taxi: If you are using services like Uber or a traditional taxi, set your destination address directly to Pirrama Park, Pyrmont. There is an excellent, safe turnaround and drop-off zone at the end of the road near the playground and cafe area, making it seamless for wedding couples to step right out onto the path.

Wet weather:

Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic.

Conditions of booking:

a) Public Park Acknowledgment

I understand that this venue is a public park and that no site fee has been charged for its use by you (the provider). This applies to only small gatherings 20 people or less and doesn’t permit chairs, decorations etc. Simple Ceremonies will provide a signing stand for you to sign your certificates.

I understand, if I am planning more than 20 people to be at the ceremony or want to have chairs or decorations of any sort, it is our responsibility to ensure this location is available for our ceremony. I will make all necessary arrangements and pay any associated fees directly to the venue or relevant authority.

a) Reservation of Location and Payment of Associated Fees

b) Guest Numbers

I understand that the Standard number of people is 20. This can be increased to 100+ people for an additional fee of $75 (click on Add Ons after making your booking).

c) Standard Duration of Booking is 30 Minutes

I understand that the total time for the standard booking is 30 minutes, which is plenty of time for a beautiful ceremony. This time cannot be extended on the day of the ceremony. However, if you would like to extend the duration of your booking, this can be done prior to the date of the ceremony for an additional fee of $150. (Click on Add Ons after making your booking.)

d) Confetti and Natural Materials

I understand that to maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the area, confetti of any sort, including natural materials such as flower petals, rice, glitter, or artificial equivalents, are strictly prohibited—unless prior written consent is received from the venue.

e) Public Liability Insurance

I understand that if Public Liability confirmation is required, there will be an additional fee of $50 to provide this.
