Yes, a separate booking is essential for your ceremony and/or reception at the St George Motor Boat Club. As a dedicated event space, they manage all scheduling, setup, and venue fees.

Venue Booking Authority and Contact Details

The weddings and functions are typically managed by their in-house events team, often referred to as The Waterfront Function Centre.

Booking Requirements and Fees

For exclusive use of private event spaces, the venue often requires a minimum number of guests, generally starting at 50 or more, especially for reception packages. Fees will vary significantly based on the chosen space, the day of the week, time of year, duration of hire, and the catering/beverage package selected. Contact The Waterfront Function Centre directly to discuss their current wedding packages, minimum spend requirements, and to secure your date and space. They will provide all details regarding ceremony-only hire (if available) or combined ceremony and reception packages.

Guest Numbers:

Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: Add up to 100+ in total +$75.

You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. For an additional fee of $75, this number can be increased to 100+ people in total. To add guests after your initial booking, go to the Add-ons tab in your portal.

I understand that, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.

Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ceremony (along with your guests) to ensure you are in the right location and ready to go at your scheduled time.

Transport Options to the Club

  • Private Car and Parking

    The club is easily reached via Rocky Point Road or The Grand Parade. Head to the address at 2 Wellington Street, Sans Souci. Parking is complimentary and available on-site for members and guests. However, spaces can be limited during peak periods or when other large events are running, so planning to arrive early is highly recommended to secure a spot close to the venue.

  • Public Transport (Train and Bus)

    You can take a train on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line to either Kogarah or Rockdale Station. From there, you will need to connect with a local bus service (e.g., to Dolls Point or Sans Souci) which often stop within a short walking distance of the club. Use a journey planner like Transport for NSW to confirm the most efficient route and connection times.

  • Rideshare or Taxi

    For maximum convenience, particularly for the bridal party, a rideshare service or taxi can drop you directly at the club's entrance. The location is well-known, and this option is often the simplest for guests who prefer not to drive or navigate public transport, especially if they plan to enjoy drinks at the reception.

Wet weather:

Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic.

As the club is a dedicated function centre, they often have dedicated, covered areas or internal spaces they can utilise for your ceremony in the event of inclement weather. These options are usually part of the agreement when you book your ceremony/reception package. You must confirm your specific wet weather plan and nominated indoor space directly with The Waterfront Function Centre team at the time of booking to ensure a seamless transition should the weather turn.

Conditions of booking:

a) Reservation of Location and Payment of Associated Fees

I understand that it is our responsibility to ensure this location is available for our ceremony. I will make all necessary arrangements and pay any associated fees directly to the venue or relevant authority.

b) Guest Numbers

I understand that the Standard number of people is 20. This can be increased to 100+ people for an additional fee of $75 (click on Add Ons after making your booking).

c) Standard Duration of Booking is 30 Minutes

I understand that the total time for the standard booking is 30 minutes, which is plenty of time for a beautiful ceremony. This time cannot be extended on the day of the ceremony. However, if you would like to extend the duration of your booking, this can be done prior to the date of the ceremony for an additional fee of $150. (Click on Add Ons after making your booking.)

d) Confetti and Natural Materials

I understand that to maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the area, confetti of any sort, including natural materials such as flower petals, rice, glitter, or artificial equivalents, are strictly prohibited—unless prior written consent is received from the venue.

e) Public Liability Insurance

I understand that if Public Liability confirmation is required, there will be an additional fee of $50 to provide this.
