Choosing the perfect venue is the first and most exciting step in planning your Sydney wedding. The Boathouse at The Spit, managed by Zest Waterfront Venues, is an exquisite choice for couples seeking a unique, waterfront location. It perfectly blends a relaxed, rustic charm with true luxury, making it an incredible backdrop for your ceremony and reception. Let's look at why this venue is a must-see for your big day.
The Boathouse is uniquely situated right on the beach, overlooking the stunning Middle Harbour. Its floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor terrace offer incredible, uninterrupted water views. This setting is perfect for couples who dream of a beach wedding ceremony without compromising on elegance and convenience, creating a truly spectacular marine backdrop for your vows and wedding photos.
The interior of the venue masterfully combines warm timber finishes and imported stone with glamorous touches like gold-leaf painted ceilings. This 'relaxed luxury' aesthetic means the venue requires minimal additional styling, as the space itself is inherently beautiful, setting a sophisticated yet intimate tone for your marriage celebrant to officiate your wedding.
Zest Waterfront Venues are celebrated for their exceptional, gourmet catering. Forget a standard three-course meal; they are known for innovative concepts like roving degustation, live food stations (such as oyster bars or handmade dumpling stations), and even a fun, interactive 'make your own giant Pavlova' experience. The quality and presentation of the food will undoubtedly be a major highlight for you and your guests.
One of the biggest conveniences for any wedding is having both the ceremony and the reception in the same location. The Boathouse offers beautiful on-site ceremony options, including their stylish elevated terrace or a lower deck that appears to float over the water. This means a seamless transition for your guests, especially older or less mobile attendees, and no travel time needed between saying 'I do' and starting the party.
The venue has consistently been voted 'Best Reception Venue' in NSW at the prestigious ABIA Awards, and has also achieved National Winner status. This track record reflects not only the beauty of the venue but also the high quality of their dedicated event coordination team and five-star service, ensuring your day is managed with professional excellence and attention to detail.
As The Boathouse at The Spit is a private, dedicated wedding venue, all bookings, fees, and requirements for holding a wedding ceremony and reception are managed directly through the venue operator, **Zest Waterfront Venues**.
Unlike a public park or council-run marriage registry office, you will not need a separate council booking for your ceremony if it is held on the premises (e.g., on the terrace or lower deck) as part of your reception package. However, if you choose a nearby public space for your ceremony, such as **Spit West Reserve** across the road, you would need to contact the relevant local council for a park booking.
Wedding packages at The Boathouse at The Spit are typically priced per person and include venue hire, catering, beverages, and service. As a premier venue, pricing is generally in the upper-mid to premium range, with costs varying significantly based on:

Here are several ways for you and your guests to get to the wedding venue:
The venue is easily accessible by car and is approximately a 20-minute drive from the Sydney CBD (depending on traffic, especially near the Spit Bridge). Public council car parks are located adjacent to the venue, including **Spit West Reserve Car Park** and **Spit East Reserve Car Park**.
A convenient option, particularly for guests who wish to enjoy the open bar. Taxi and ride-share services (such as Uber) are readily available in the Mosman area.
The Boathouse is well-serviced by public transport, with a bus stop conveniently located just across the road from the venue.
For an unforgettable arrival or departure, it is possible to arrive or leave by boat! Access is usually via the Middle Harbour Yacht Club marina, which is nearby.
Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic.
The great benefit of getting married at a dedicated, all-in-one venue like The Boathouse is that they always have a sophisticated wet weather backup plan.
