As an iconic outdoor wedding venue, the Bradleys Head Amphitheatre in Sydney Harbour National Park offers an unforgettable backdrop for your ceremony. Its tiered sandstone seating provides a natural amphitheatre effect, perfect for a wedding of up to 120 guests. It's a prime spot for couples looking for breathtaking harbour views and a touch of Sydney history for their big day.
Here are 5 compelling reasons why couples should consider getting married at Bradleys Head Amphitheatre:
The location offers one of the absolute best vantage points for capturing your wedding photos. You'll have the stunning trifecta of the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and Fort Denison all in one frame. It’s a photographer’s dream and guarantees spectacular images.
Your guests will be wowed by the panoramic, world-class views. The serene water, the distant city skyline, and the natural bushland create a dramatic and beautiful setting that is uniquely Sydney.
The area is steeped in history, featuring the foremast of the famous HMAS Sydney and the historic Doric stone pillar from the old General Post Office. These landmarks add a layer of interesting character and depth to your ceremony location.
Unlike a flat park area, the natural amphitheatre layout with its tiered sandstone seating ensures all your guests have a clear, uninterrupted view of the ceremony and the amazing harbour backdrop.
Located near the Taronga Zoo ferry wharf, it offers a great option for guests arriving by ferry from Circular Quay, making for a scenic and hassle-free journey for those not driving.
A formal booking and payment of fees is required to secure the Bradleys Head Amphitheatre for your wedding ceremony, especially if you have over 40 guests. This location is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park, and is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
You must contact the NPWS directly to check availability, make a booking, and confirm the current fees.
The venue is suitable for weddings up to a maximum capacity of 120 people. Please note that availability may be restricted between 22 December and 1 February, and on public holidays.
It is essential to contact the NPWS directly to confirm current pricing, availability, and specific terms and conditions for your chosen date, as fees are subject to change.
Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: Add up to 100+ in total +$75.
You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. For an additional fee of $75, this number can be increased to 100+ people in total. To add guests after your initial booking, go to the Add-ons tab in your portal.
I understand that, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ceremony (along with your guests) to ensure you are in the right location and ready to go at your scheduled time.
The Bradleys Head Amphitheatre is located on Bradleys Head Road, Mosman, within the Sydney Harbour National Park.
The most straightforward way is by car. Drive to Bradleys Head Road, Mosman. There is a car park located near the amphitheatre, but spaces are limited, particularly on weekends and during peak season. A mandatory $8 per vehicle per day park entry fee applies upon entry to the Bradleys Head precinct. Carpooling is highly recommended, and guests should allow ample time to find a spot and pay the fee using the pay machines or the Park'nPay app.
A beautiful and scenic option is to take a Sydney Ferry (F2 Taronga Zoo service) from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo Wharf. From the wharf, it is approximately a 15-20 minute scenic walk along the Bradleys Head Walking Track to the amphitheatre. Advise guests to check the Transport NSW website for the latest ferry timetables.
Bus services operate from the city towards Taronga Zoo. The closest bus stop is near the Taronga Zoo entrance on Bradleys Head Road. From there, it is a short walk down to the amphitheatre. Check the Transport NSW website for routes like the 100 bus service and stop details.
Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic.
As a completely outdoor venue located within a National Park, the Bradleys Head Amphitheatre does not have a formal built-in covered wet weather option. The nature of the location means that setting up temporary structures like marquees is generally not permitted without extensive permissions from NPWS.
Your primary wet weather strategy should be:
a) Reservation of Location and Payment of Associated Fees
I understand that it is our responsibility to ensure this location is available for our ceremony. I will make all necessary arrangements and pay any associated fees directly to the venue or relevant authority.
b) Guest Numbers
I understand that the Standard number of people is 20. This can be increased to 100+ people for an additional fee of $75 (click on Add Ons after making your booking).
c) Standard Duration of Booking is 30 Minutes
I understand that the total time for the standard booking is 30 minutes, which is plenty of time for a beautiful ceremony. This time cannot be extended on the day of the ceremony. However, if you would like to extend the duration of your booking, this can be done prior to the date of the ceremony for an additional fee of $150. (Click on Add Ons after making your booking.)
d) Confetti and Natural Materials
I understand that to maintain the cleanliness and integrity of the area, confetti of any sort, including natural materials such as flower petals, rice, glitter, or artificial equivalents, are strictly prohibited—unless prior written consent is received from the venue.
e) Public Liability Insurance
I understand that if Public Liability confirmation is required, there will be an additional fee of $50 to provide this.
