Copes Lookout in Kirribilli offers one of the most stunning, quintessential Sydney backdrops for your wedding ceremony. It is an ideal marriage venue for couples looking for iconic views without the grand venue price tag. Located right on the harbour, this location offers breathtaking photo opportunities that capture the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge in a single frame. It’s the perfect spot for an intimate ceremony presided over by your chosen marriage celebrant or wedding celebrant.
Searching for the perfect **wedding venue** or looking for **wedding venues near me** that offer a world-class view? Here are five compelling reasons why Copes Lookout should be at the top of your list for your Sydney ceremony:
You simply can't beat the backdrop. Copes Lookout provides a spectacular, uninterrupted panorama of the **Sydney Harbour Bridge** and the **Sydney Opera House**. Your wedding photos will feature these world-famous icons, creating memories that are distinctly Sydney.
Despite its central, prime location, the area around Copes Lookout offers a surprisingly intimate and secluded pocket, nestled amongst the rocks and harbour foreshore. This makes it perfect for a smaller, more heartfelt ceremony where you can truly focus on your vows.
The lookout is conveniently located right next to Jeffrey Street Wharf. This gives you the unique and glamorous option of arriving at your ceremony by water taxi or ferry, adding an extra layer of excitement and romance to your special day.
Compared to booking a full-service, exclusive **wedding venue**, hiring a public space like Copes Lookout from the council can be a much more affordable choice. This allows you to allocate your budget to other important elements of your wedding day.
With the quality of light over the water and the sheer majesty of the two Sydney icons, this location is a dream for professional wedding photographers. You'll achieve magazine-worthy shots with minimal fuss, making the most of your time with your **wedding celebrant** and guests.
Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: Add up to 60 in total +$75.
You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. For an additional fee of $75, this number can be increased to 60 people in total. To add guests after your initial booking, go to the Add-ons tab in your portal.
I understand that if I plan to have more than 60 people, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ceremony (along with your guests) to ensure you are in the right location and ready to go at your scheduled time. Copes Lookout is located on Jeffrey Street, Kirribilli.
Here are the ways to get to this stunning **marriage venue**:
For those driving, there is **metered street parking** available along Jeffrey Street and nearby roads in Kirribilli. Parking is limited, particularly on weekends and public holidays, and is generally pay-by-the-hour. Guests should allow ample time to find a spot and should bring coins or use a parking app where available. A dedicated driver or taxi/rideshare is often a more stress-free alternative for the bridal party.
The closest train station is **Milsons Point Station** (T1 North Shore Line). Copes Lookout is an easy and picturesque 5–7 minute walk from the station. Simply exit the station and walk towards the water/Harbour Bridge for clear signage to Jeffrey Street.
Arriving by ferry is a beautiful option, offering a unique approach to this gorgeous **wedding venue**. The closest wharf is **Milsons Point Wharf**, which is approximately a 4-minute walk to the lookout. Alternatively, **Jeffrey Street Wharf** is right next door and may be used for a private water taxi drop-off.
Several bus routes service the Kirribilli and Milsons Point area, connecting to North Sydney, Neutral Bay, and the City. Check the Transport for NSW website or app for the best route from your starting location to ensure a smooth journey to your ceremony.
Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic. Copes Lookout is an exposed, outdoor location, and there are no permanent, dedicated wet weather shelters immediately on site.
