Itโs a spectacular spot to say 'I do' and seamlessly transition into your reception!
As a leading marriage celebrant and content strategist, we know what makes a wedding venue truly exceptional. Here are five compelling reasons why Horizons, Maroubra, is the ultimate choice for your big day:
Horizons lives up to its name! You and your guests will be treated to sweeping, panoramic views of Maroubra Beach and the Pacific Ocean. This spectacular marriage venue ensures a truly majestic backdrop for your ceremony photos, offering that quintessential Sydney coastal vibe without having to travel far from the city.
You have the flexibility to choose your ideal setting! Horizons offers three distinct ceremony locations: a barefoot beach ceremony on the sand, a beautiful lawn for a garden feel with an ocean backdrop, or the sheltered private balcony overlooking the sea. This means your style, whether relaxed or elegant, can be perfectly accommodated by this fantastic wedding celebrant location.
The venue is primarily a stunning function space managed by Top Cat Catering. Having your ceremony and reception in the same location (Horizons) means zero travel time between events. This simplifies logistics for you and your guests, allowing for more time to celebrate your new marriage!
Finding parking at beachside wedding venues near me can often be a headache, but Horizons offers excellent parking facilities. With a substantial car park available at Arthur Byrne Reserve, your guests will appreciate the convenience and ease of access.
While everyone hopes for sunshine, a coastal wedding needs a solid Plan B. Horizons' private, enclosed balcony provides a beautiful, weather-proof alternative for your ceremony, ensuring those stunning ocean views are still part of your day, regardless of the weather.
Horizons, Maroubra, is a multi-purpose wedding venue located in Arthur Byrne Reserve. The venue itself is a private function space, but if you choose an outdoor ceremony location (like the Beach or Lawn), an external booking and fee may be required for the use of public land, which falls under the jurisdiction of Randwick City Council.
The primary point of contact for booking the venue and associated ceremony spaces (including the Balcony option) is the venue manager, Top Cat Catering.
For outdoor ceremonies in Arthur Byrne Reserve (the area surrounding the venue), a Public Space Hire Application with Randwick City Council is generally required, especially for weddings with guests over a certain number or involving setting up infrastructure (chairs, archways, etc.).
Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: Add up to 100+ in total +$75.
You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. For an additional fee of $75, this number can be increased to 100+ people in total. To add guests after your initial booking, go to the Add-ons tab in your portal.
I understand that, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ceremony (along with your guests) to ensure you are in the right location and ready to go at your scheduled time. Horizons is conveniently located above the South Maroubra Surf Lifesaving Club, a short drive from the Sydney CBD and Airport.
Horizons is located at **1R Marine Parade, Maroubra NSW 2035**, within Arthur Byrne Reserve. Access the reserve via Bernie Kelly Drive off Fitzgerald Avenue. The venue offers significant on-site car parking (some sources suggest up to 350 spaces) for guests. While parking is generally ample, be aware that on busy summer weekends, the public car park can fill up quickly, so plan to arrive early.
A taxi or ride-share service is a quick and stress-free option, particularly if you are coming from the CBD or the Airport (which is only about a 10-minute drive). Direct your driver to "Horizons, South Maroubra Surf Lifesaving Club, Arthur Byrne Reserve."
Maroubra is well-serviced by local bus routes from the city and surrounding suburbs. You can take a bus to Maroubra Junction and then catch a connecting bus or enjoy a pleasant 15-20 minute stroll down to Maroubra Beach and the Arthur Byrne Reserve. Use a trip planner app for the most current route and stop information (e.g., Transport for NSW).
Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic. Fortunately, Horizons has an excellent dedicated wet weather option right on site.
The Private Balcony: One of the key advantages of this marriage venue is the large, covered, open-air balcony that runs along the function room. This space is often used as a perfect wet-weather Plan B, as it still offers those stunning, uninterrupted ocean views while providing shelter from rain or harsh sun. This option ensures a smooth, stress-free transition from your planned outdoor spot.
