Darook Park in Cronulla is a hidden gem, offering couples a beautiful, secluded coastal backdrop for their simple and intimate wedding ceremony. Tucked away on the shores of Gunnamatta Bay, it provides a serene escape from the more bustling Cronulla beaches. If you're searching for a magical, water-side location that feels personal and romantic, Darook Park could be your perfect match. Its tranquil atmosphere and stunning bay views make it an ideal choice for saying "I do".
Escape the crowds for an intimate ceremony. Unlike the main Cronulla beaches, Darook Park is tucked away, providing a peaceful and private setting. Itβs perfect for couples who want a relaxed, intimate ceremony without a throng of onlookers.
Enjoy picturesque water vistas across Gunnamatta Bay. The park offers beautiful, calm bay views, creating a soft, romantic backdrop for your photos. The water is often still, reflecting the sky and creating a peaceful ambiance.
The natural landscape provides a lovely, sheltered spot. The park's gently sloping hillside offers a natural 'amphitheatre' effect, allowing your guests to gather and watch the ceremony easily, often with some natural shelter from the elements.
Conveniently close to great reception and dining options. After your beautiful ceremony, you and your guests are just a short drive from Cronulla's vibrant centre, offering an array of restaurants, cafes, and reception venues to continue your celebration.
A variety of natural backdrops for beautiful wedding photos. From the sandy beach and calm bay waters to the shady trees and rocky foreshore, Darook Park offers diverse scenery for timeless and romantic wedding photography.
Standard: 20 People. Add Guests: Add up to 60 in total +$75.
You can have up to 20 people (the 2 of you and 18 guests) at your ceremony. This excludes children under 6 years old. For an additional fee of $75, this number can be increased to 60 people in total. To add guests after your initial booking, go to the Add-ons tab in your portal.
I understand that if I plan to have more than 20 people, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes prior to your ceremony (along with your guests) to ensure you are in the right location and ready to go at your scheduled time. Darook Park is located at 43 Darook Park Rd, Cronulla NSW 2230.
Here are the best ways to get to Darook Park:
How to plan: Darook Park Road offers limited street parking. In peak times, this can be challenging. It is advisable for your guests to carpool or be dropped off, especially on weekends and in summer. The area is largely residential, so be mindful of local parking restrictions and time limits.
How to plan: The most straightforward option for guests. Simply enter "Darook Park, Cronulla" as the destination. Be aware that during peak ceremony times, getting a ride out of this residential area can sometimes take a little longer.
How to plan: Cronulla train station (on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line) is the closest station. From the station, Darook Park is approximately a 15-20 minute walk (about 1.2 - 1.5 km). It is a pleasant walk through the local streets and along the bay. Advise guests to wear comfortable shoes or arrange transport from the station for those who prefer not to walk.
Now it doesn't happen often, but when it does you will need to shelter under trees or bring umbrellas - how romantic.
Darook Park is an open public park and does not have a formal, permanent structure like a rotunda or pavilion that provides substantial wet weather protection. The park has areas with shady trees which may offer minimal shelter in a light drizzle.
For a formal wet weather plan, you should consider:
a) Public Park Acknowledgment
I understand that this venue is a public park and that no site fee has been charged for its use by you (the provider).
b) Guest Capacity
I understand the Standard maximum number of people is 20. I can increase this to a maximum of 60 people for an extra $75 (I will select Add Ons after booking).
I understand that if I plan to have more than 20 people, it is my responsibility to make the required booking with the park authority and pay any associated site fees directly to them.
c) Booking Duration
I understand the Standard booking time is 30 minutes, which is plenty of time for a beautiful ceremony. I acknowledge that this duration cannot be extended on the day of the ceremony.
If I wish to extend the time, I understand I must arrange this prior to the ceremony date for an additional $150 for an additional 30 minutes (I will select Add Ons after booking).
d) Confetti and Prohibited Materials
I understand that confetti of any sort, including natural materials such as flower petals, rice, glitter, or artificial equivalents, are strictly prohibited.
e) Public Liability Insurance
I understand that an additional fee of $50 will apply if Public Liability confirmation is required for bookings with more than 60 people.
