In short: under our standard terms you can reschedule your ceremony free of charge up to one calendar month and two days before it; after that, a new date means paying the full ceremony fee again. The Plan B Promise is an optional upgrade: if rain, illness or a travel disruption gets in the way inside that final month, you can move your ceremony to a new date for a flat change fee instead. It applies only to your booking with Simple Ceremonies. It is a reschedule only — never a refund — and it is not insurance.

1. What the Plan B Promise is

1. The Plan B Promise ("Promise") is an optional change to the rescheduling terms of your ceremony booking with Simple Ceremonies Australia, a business of MACB Family Pty Ltd ("we", "us"). It is a promise about our own services only.
2. It is not an insurance product and is not issued by an insurer. It does not compensate you for any cost or loss other than as set out in clause 4.
3. These terms add to our standard booking terms. Where they differ, these terms apply to your ceremony.

2. Buying the Promise

1. You can add the Promise at any time after your booking is confirmed, up to and including the day that is one calendar month and two days before your ceremony date. For example, for a ceremony on 15 December, the last day to add it is 13 November.
2. The standard fee is $55 (incl. GST). Some locations have a different fee or change fee; the amounts shown for your location when you add the Promise are the ones that apply.
3. The Promise is added and paid for as an Add-On on your booking. It starts once the fee has been paid in full and we have confirmed it in writing (including by email or in your portal).
4. One Promise applies to one ceremony booking and can be used once.

3. When you can use it (Qualifying Events)

1. Illness or injury — either party to the marriage is too unwell or injured to attend the ceremony, supported by a certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
2. Travel disruption — either party to the marriage can't reach the ceremony in time because their booked transport is cancelled or significantly delayed by the carrier, or because of a government travel restriction, supported by written evidence from the carrier or authority.
3. Rain — at the time you make your request, the Bureau of Meteorology's official forecast for the forecast location nearest your ceremony location shows a chance of rain of 80% or more on your ceremony day, or a Bureau of Meteorology warning for severe thunderstorms or heavy rainfall covers your ceremony location at your ceremony time.

4. What you get

1. If we approve your request, you can move your ceremony to a new date and time, at the same location or another of our locations, by paying the change fee — $100 (incl. GST) or the change fee shown for your location — instead of paying the full ceremony fee again, as our standard terms require for a change made less than one calendar month and two days before the ceremony.
2. The Promise is a reschedule only. It does not entitle you to a refund of your ceremony fee, the Promise fee or any other amount.
3. The new date must be within 12 months of your original ceremony date and is subject to availability. If the new location or time has a higher ceremony fee, you pay the difference.
4. Your Notice of Intended Marriage is valid for 18 months from the date it was received. If your new date falls outside that period, a new Notice will be needed (and the one-month notice period applies again).
5. Once used, the Promise ends. Your new date is not covered by it unless you buy a new Promise within the time allowed in clause 2.1.

5. What it does not cover

1. Anything supplied by someone other than Simple Ceremonies, including external venues and venue or permit fees paid to councils or other third parties, and our partners — for example photographers, chairs and decorations, florists, cars, hair and make-up, styling and catering. Some partners offer their own Plan B Partner Promise for their own services; that is a separate promise from that partner, under their own terms.
2. Travel, accommodation or any other costs you or your guests have paid.
3. Change of mind, a change in your relationship, or the illness or travel plans of guests, witnesses or family.
4. Weather other than rain as described in clause 3.3 (for example heat or wind).
5. Any request made after the deadlines in clause 6.

6. How to make a request

1. Make your request through the Plan B page in your Simple Ceremonies portal (noim.scapod.com.au/plan-b), or by email to admin@scaustralia.com.au from the email address on your booking.
2. Deadlines, measured from your ceremony's booked start time: illness or injury, and travel disruption — at least 24 hours before; rain — at least 2 hours before.
3. Include the reason and your evidence. If you can't send the evidence straight away, send it within 7 days of your request.
4. Your request is not approved, and your ceremony is not moved or cancelled, until we reply in writing confirming it. Until then, please plan on your ceremony going ahead as booked.
5. If we receive a complete request before the deadline that meets these terms, we will honour it even if our reply reaches you after the deadline. For rain requests we aim to reply within 1 hour.

7. The Promise fee

1. The Promise fee is not refundable once the Promise has started, except where required by law or where we cancel your ceremony ourselves.
2. If your request is declined, you keep your original booking under our standard terms.

8. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

9. Your information

Medical information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act 1988, so we only collect it with your consent, which we ask for when you make an illness or injury request. Medical and travel evidence you send us is used only to assess your request, is handled under our Privacy Policy, is not shared with anyone else without your consent, and is kept only as long as we need it for your booking.

10. Changes to these terms

The version of these terms in place when you added the Promise applies to your booking. These terms sit alongside our Terms & Conditions.
